E!Power tent/Eureka tent

Has anyone tried this yet? www.epowertent.com
Does it work? Is it worth it? How do you plug in a hair dryer if it's not a 12v? Not that I would but just asking. I'm curious about the reading light and fan too. Also, does the battery pack really work long enough?

RE: Lake Siskiyou

We went to the hatchery. I took loads of pictures. They have some big fish in there! The museum was neat too and had an art show going on. We got to vote on our favorites. My kids bought some fools gold and I got a Mt Shasta mug. :)

Lake Siskiyou

We just got back from our first trip to Lake Siskiyou and LOVED it. It was really family friendly and our kids enjoyed the free outdoor movies. We tent camp but they had plenty of RVs as well. The campground is so big you can't hear the RVs from the tent camp area. We hiked, biked, swam, skipped rocks, rented boats, fished, roasted marshmellows, golfed (down the road at Mt. Shasta resort), and got a spectacular shooting star light show. The showers stayed hot and everything was convienent to get to. We'll definately go again. :)
I just wanted to share this with other families because I think it was the bees knees! My Dad came for two days and wants to plan a family reunion there next year. lol

RE: Son here for summer, and he dont enjoy camping

This is an intersting topic and I like a lot of suggestions so far.
I have a 17 year old boy who visits us part-time. Man, if that isn't a tough thing to create a relationship part-time! He only lives an hour away so I can only imagine your distance makes it harder to connect. As others have said, don't worry too much. He sounds like a normal 16 year old boy and unfortunatly (for you) he would rather be back home with his friends. Nothing personal. When my son reached this stage of friends and girls we really pushed to have him bring a friend. Now he's almost 18 and brings his girlfriend. It's so great to have a house full of vibrant teens! If you can, it would be worth it to offer to help pay for the plane ticket (I'm assuming he comes via airline?) for the friend to come for a week or two. Yes? No? Maybe?
I would also think about going somewhere with him like an amusement park, water park, zoo, or even plan a little trip outside your area to an exciting destination your son would enjoy. Where has he always wanted to travel to? Florida? Mexico? California? ;)

RE: Travel to Santa Cruz California

The one is Scotts Valley is nice and it's only 10-15 minutes from the Beach Boardwalk, Wharf and downtown. My Parents stay there everytime they come visit. Seacliff SP is by the beach but I'm not sure if they have full hook-ups or not.

RE: How has everyone else's summer been?...

We've had a fabulous summer but haven't camped once. We plan on going on our first camping trip in five years. Let's just say the last trip wasn't great so we took a break from it while our kids were babies. Now they're a little older (5 and 8) and are ready to go! :)

RE: Tent vs Pop-up...

I think Pop-ups and TTs are work at first but I hear once you get it down it becomes a lot easier and WAY more comfortable. I'm dreaming of the day....(smiles whistfully)

RE: critters

We always lock our food up at night. Of course one camping trip I was playing a mean trick on my little brother and left oreos right outside his tent. The racoons got them but the joke was on me since he never woke up! Hehehehehe.

Lake Siskiyou smokey?

I know, I'm probably one of many to ask this but we are going to tent camp at Lake Siskiyou this Saturday. Is it smokey there? My son has slight asthma so if the air quality is bad we shouldn't go. If it's just haze, we should be ok. Anyone live up there wanna let me know? It looks like the web cams are pretty clear but just want to double check. Thanks!

RE: Increasing ice life in your ice chest/cooler…

I just bought a "7 day" cooler from Costco. I sure hope it works. I don't know if I would buy a wrap for it but I will try the old sleeping bag in the shade trick. Thanks!

RE: Shower Tent Question

If you want to shower at your campsite, buy a wide basin to shower in so the dirty water doesn't go everywhere. Then dump the grey water out in an appropriate place. We only use our solar shower for campsites without showers and it's not as easy at it would seem. More work than just waiting in line or shower in the evening instead.
Happy Camping!
